This position was started as an internship as required for the final part of my studies at 42 Wolfsburg, but has been extended into a normal contract. Here there have been 2 phases, one, working mostly with python and docker, with some tasks being:

• Video analysis, streaming and recording using OpenCV
• Backend implementations using FastAPI
• Task scheduling using celery
• Implementation of message brokers with RabbitMQ
• Containerization of applications

The second and currently my main area of focus:

• Golang
• Go decoders
• Go web backend (HTMX frontend)

This projct is ongoing, but these are the basic technologies I will be using here.

sunhill technologies GmbH. was a subsidiary of Volkswagen Financial Services, and my work here was on a more operational level, a continuation of my previous position.
Some of my tasks involved:

• Preparing market analysis for Portuguese and Spanish markets
• Preparing sales approach to clients
• Viability research for new mobility products (Spain, Portugal,Italy)
• Contacting local administrations in Spain and Portugal
• Coordinating activities with external stakeholders
• Organized directory of department processes to be GDPR compliant

I started this intership as the final part of my masters, and was part of unit dedicated to Mobility services.

The team where I was inserted was responsible for the topic parking, as Volkswagen Financial Services had the task of coordinating the implementation of of smart parking across the Volskagen Group brands.

Specifically my tasks where:

• Assisting with coordination of commissioned market study
• Expanding an existing competition analysis
• Market research to prepare market entry in Southern Europe (Portugal, Spain and Italy)

Started the company with my best friend Nuno, we did electric bycicle tours of Lisbon, for private customers and companies.
It was a great experience, to be able to spend a lot of time outside, in good company.

There were valuable lessons not only on interacting with different types of customers, from different cultures, but also it was a great way to work on presentation skills, as each tour followed a route, and customers needed to be informed and entertained, and although there can be a framework for what is presented, every tour needed to be customized on the spot.

In late 2015, when my first child was born, sadly, I left Nuno and moved to Germany.

42 Wolfsburg is part of a larger 42 Network, and is focused on peer-to-peer learning. The curriculum makes use of three programming languages, and has different projects, addressing different topics in increasing difficulty:

C:

• Replications of basic built-in functions.
• Implementation of sorting algorithms.
• Use of graphical libraries to implement 3D games.
• Reverse engeneering of simple programs.

C++:

• Basics of Object Oriented programming.
• Implementations of a NGINX like web server.

TypeScript:

• Development of a fully functional website using NestJS, React, PostgreSQL and Docker.

Looking for a change of topics I applied to the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, part of the Universidade de Lisboa. The masters in Inustrial Strategy and Management had a broad focus on business themes, such as:

• Marketing
• Innovation Management
• Logistics
• Risk Analysis and Management

During this time, I started a business with my best friend, had children and moved to my current home in Germany.

When I finally finished my masters I did my dissertation following and internship at Volkswagen Financial Services on the topic: “Smart Parking - the Volkswagen Financial Services Case”, where I explored the different implementations of smart parking models in different countries in Europe.

Studied general psychology with the aim of studying clinical psychology.

During this time I was able to participate in the Erasmus Program, and lived in Budapest for a year. This brought me in contact with a lot of people from different cultures, and definetly had an impact on my worldview going forward.

Alas, during my internship and first professional setting, in a primary school in the outskirts of Lisbon, I came to realize that psychology and me weren't meant to be.
